Today, on Tuesday corresponding to 23\6\2020, the Supreme Council of Universities held its session No.701 headed by Dr.Khaled Abd Al Ghaffar-Minister of Higher Education& Scientific Research in attendance of Dr.Mohamed Latif- the General Secretary of the Council and the heads of the faculties, at the beginning of the session the minister ensured from the regularity of the evaluation process for the students of the transforming years according to the rules and measures that are decided previously by the Supreme Council of Universities, and the last preparations of the universities for conducting the exams of the final batches for the faculties of the second semester for the academic year(2019\2020), the works of the final years at all faculties and institutes will be started considering from (1\7\2020).
His Excellency pointed out the decision No.1196 for the 2020 year for the heads of the universities to organize the work in each faculty and determine the required numbers of the administrative employees during conducting the process of the exams and the preparing works for it according to the rules that are beneficial for the public and what are suitable for the required precautionary measures for dealing with Covid-19; the final decisions of the formed committee in 18\4\2020:
1-Extending the academic year of this to 15\7\2020 due to the actual extension of the exams’ works for this year beyond 31\7\2020 for taking into account the public interest and the current conditions.
2-The students who don’t want to perform the exams this year because of the current conditions, have to submit the application for the council of the universities whether by paper or by any other electronic means, but according to the emergency or illness excuses can be accepted at any time and in both cases, the absence of the students can’t be considered a failure.
3-Due to the flight ban and its irregular, the arrivals who stay abroad can perform the exams according to the announcing schedules by the universities.
4-The universities are responsible for organizing the schedules of the written exams for postgraduate studies according to the carrying capacity of the campus and what ensuring applying the precautionary measures that are approved by the council.
5-Within the framework of the council’s interest with the students of the American Diploma, the works of the coordination office for this year will be extended beyond the exams of SAT2 that are decided to hold in August and September months for the 2020 year;for students with an English high school diploma, the assessment of the role of June 2020 approved by the international accreditation bodies (Cambridge – Pearson – Oxford) is taken after the approval of the British Council.
6-Due to the delaying the date of the exams in some countries, the coordination office counties to receive the coordinating applications from students who have equivalent diplomas to the high school diploma from those countries, until the appearance of the results of the exams for them no later than 30\11\2020; and in the case of they submit to the coordination office beyond after this date they will not be accepted in the governmental universities only by the distinctive programs of the faculties whose internal regulations allow the admission in the second semester and this will be in the light of the minimum of the admission in the sector or their admission in the academic year (2020\2021).
